Digital Research Analyst, Center on Digital Influence

Starting Salary: $45,000-50,000 per year 
Location: Fully remote, with an office in DC 
Expected Start Date: September/October 2023 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Drive Agency is looking for a Digital Research Analyst to join our Center on Digital Influence, where they will help conduct social listening research to identify online narratives – including mis/disinformation – as part of our teams’ work to help campaigns and progressive organizations navigate online threats and run adaptive, modern, and impactful communications. 

The ideal candidate is a digital native who is politically engaged and looking for a way to learn and use research and critical thinking skills to support progressive goals. This candidate will also ideally have experience working or volunteering on political campaigns, in campaign advocacy, or in community organizing, and is interested in exploring how traditional and social media impacts politics and voters. 

Direct experience with issues related to disinformation, extremism, or election interference is a plus, but candidates who are interested in these topics are also encouraged to apply. Experience using social media platforms in a work capacity – including any social listening tools – is also helpful but not a requirement. 

This person will spend the bulk of their time conducting social listening research, including by taking responsibility for regular reports. They may also be asked to conduct research in response to breaking new events and rapid response requests on top of their weekly deliverables.

This position is project-based for six months, with the strong potential of continuing through the November 2024 election. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Conducting social listening research and drafting written summary memos
  • Ownership over a set of regular reports, staying organized to ensure reports are completed on time and according to quality standards 
  • Able to also pivot as needed and produce quick, same-day reports when news and client needs require
  • Staying attuned to current events and news related to US elections and politics
  • Able to work after hours on occasion, particularly in response to breaking news events and rapid response requests from clients and partners 
  • Provide other support for senior staff and clients on an as-needed basis 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • At least 1-2 years of professional experience, including some experience in politics, advocacy and/or organizing 
  • Strong written communication skills 
  • Ability to stay organized and juggle requests under tight deadlines 
  • Comfortable with Google Suite 
  • Understanding of the US political and social media landscapes, trends, and current events 
  • Experience with social media in a professional capacity is a plus 
  • Language skills outside of English are a plus 
  • Experience or interest in supporting constituencies most harmed by online mis/disinformation, including communities of color, immigrant communities, and LGBTQ+ groups is a plus 
  • Commitment to work that encourages voting, civic participation, or political activism

Overview:

Trinity Church Wall Street is a growing and inclusive Episcopal parish in Lower Manhattan and an anchor institution in New York City. Trinity’s grantmaking funds partners in New York City who work toward racial justice by breaking the cycles of mass incarceration, mass homelessness, and housing instability. Trinity also helps faith partners build financial sustainability for ministry, and supports leadership development opportunities for seminarians, clergy, and laypeople of faith. Trinity aims to lift up the work of its grantee partners and share the impact of their efforts through a range of reports, assessments, profiles, stories, and related media.

Deliverables:

  • Two research-focused reports to support ongoing evaluation of our grant cohorts; five new grantee spotlights
  • Four new cohort spotlights
  • Revisions to existing grantee spotlights and harmonization across the portfolio
  • Five new grantee spotlights

Bank for Good

Overview:

The Bank for Good platform was created in 2020 to push against the Big 4 Banks (Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, and Wells Fargo) that invest its patrons dollars in climate and justice harmful initiatives such as private prisons and oil drilling. Drive Agency, the custodian of the Bank for Good platform, continues to make the site more accessible across the US and provide  expansive banking alternatives that align with the pro-climate and equity morals held by the vast majority of Americans. ​​The aim of the campaign was to leverage research and past learnings to dramatically scale participation in Bank For Good and utilize the platform’s large partner base to engage activists and consumers in financial institution switching behavior. 

Deliverables:

  • Introduce and incorporate additional partners to support the Bank for Good platform and coalition
  • Design and engage a PR and Communications strategy to ensure as we deploy targeted Bank switching
  • Provide direct support to a growing network of organizational and B Corp partners looking to engage their membership base, employees, and allies in ensuring their banking is aligned with their values.

Choose Love

Overview:

Movements are born out of moments. The horrific humanitarian crisis unfolding before the world’s eyes in Ukraine has catapulted the issue of refugees into the world’s consciousness like few other events in recent history. While an ocean away, the US population in particular seems to have found a deep empathetic connection to the plight of the Ukrainian refugees. The UK based non-profit organization, Choose Love, provides fast and urgently needed humanitarian support to refugees crises globally. Drive Agency designed and led the campaign to raise awareness and funds for Choose Love’s Ukraine support through the management of numerous creative and strategic global teams.

Deliverables:

  • Audience targeting and refine for content deployment
  • Partnered with 11 Micro Influencers to  co-creation of and posting of content on Tik Tok and Instagram
  • Creation of a video to explain to a US audience the Ukraine crisis and how to provide support via Choose Love
  • Digital Ad creation, buying, monitoring and evaluation

Fossil Fuel Non Proliferation Treaty

Overview:

A bold new plan is needed to keep our climate, health, communities and economies safe from risks of fossil fuels. A global plan to phase them out in keeping with the manageable limit of 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming while accelerating, clean solutions that leave no one behind. The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Campaign is a vehicle to create and implement such a plan.

Deliverables:

  • Audience Analysis and Research
  • Focus Groups Facilitation and Findings Analysis
  • Creation of Communications Strategy
  • Built a full campaign prototype to explore different campaign narratives, creative elements, and CTAs
  • Developed a paid social media testing strategy including goals, audiences, timelines, platforms and metrics
